PAPPERONI PIZZA - SLICE OF HEAVEN
Pepperoni pizza is
a classic favorite enjoyed by many pizza lovers. With its crispy crust, tangy
tomato sauce, gooey melted cheese, and spicy pepperoni slices, it's easy to see
why it's so popular. Here is a complete recipe article on how to make a
delicious pepperoni pizza from scratch.
Ingredients:
For the
pizza dough:
3 cups
all-purpose flour
1 tbsp
sugar
1 tbsp
active dry yeast
1 tsp
salt
1 cup
warm water
2 tbsp
olive oil
For the
pizza sauce:
1 can
(14 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 cloves
garlic, minced
1 tbsp
olive oil
1 tsp
dried oregano
1 tsp
dried basil
Salt and
pepper to taste
For the
toppings:
2 cups
shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup
sliced pepperoni
1/4 cup
grated Parmesan cheese
Red
pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions:
Make the
pizza dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add
the warm water and olive oil and mix until a smooth dough forms. Knead the
dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes elastic and
smooth.
Place
the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let it
rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Make the
pizza sauce: In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the
garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Add the crushed tomatoes,
oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes, until the sauce
thickens.
Preheat
the oven to 450°F (230°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to
preheat.
Roll out
the pizza dough on a floured surface to about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer
the dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Spread
the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving about 1/2 inch border around the edges.
Sprinkle
the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by the sliced
pepperoni.
Sprinkle
the grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the pizza.
If
desired, sprinkle red pepper flakes over the pizza for added heat.
Transfer
the pizza to the preheated pizza stone, if using, or place it on the middle
rack of the oven.
Bake the
pizza for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is
melted and bubbly.
Remove
the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and
serving.
Tips:
To save
time, you can use store-bought pizza dough or pre-made crusts.
Feel
free to customize the toppings to your liking. You can add other types of meat,
vegetables, or even fruits like pineapple.
For a
crispier crust, place the rolled-out dough on a preheated pizza stone or baking
sheet.
If you
don't have a pizza stone, you can place the rolled-out dough on a greased
baking sheet.
For a
spicier pizza, add more red pepper flakes or use a spicier pepperoni.
